Originally from Eugene Oregon, Brad started playing
guitar at age 8 and in the
late 60’s and early 70’s was performing as a blues and
rock guitarist inspired by Eric Clapton of Cream and
Blind Faith, BB King, Led Zeppelin, and others.
Primarily self-taught he was
Influenced by recordings of Pat Martino, Howard
Roberts, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Art Blakey,
Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Chick Corea, Bill
Evans, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. His musical
interest later turned to jazz where in high school he
was the guitarist for the school jazz band as
well as his own funk / jazz combo. He later
attended Lane community college in Eugene Oregon
studying Jazz and Classical guitar. Other music
education includes studies with Milo Petersen
and the Faunt School of Creative
Music in Los Angeles CA.
In 2002 he started playing 7-string guitar which
provides a greater harmonic range and serves as
the perfect instrument for the duo work that he
does with other guitarists, horn players, and
vocalists.
Brad currently resides on Seattle’s Eastside in
Sammamish, Washington working regularly as a
leader with his quartet, trio, and duo in
addition to working as a side man for other
projects.
Current projects include:
The Brad Buck Quartet - playing straight ahead
jazz and Brazilian standards.
The Fairly Honest Jazz Band - A 9 piece jazz
orchestra featuring vocalist Chrissy Lewis.
(Performing at Tula's in Seattle the last Sunday
of each month).
Jazz guitar duo – playing jazz and Brazilian
standards. |
